  • How did this Archive Come About?

This archive has been a long time in the making.

    88 years to be exact.

We are grateful that Minnie Truhn, one of the original members of the Schola Cantorum, kept a scrapbook during her 20 plus years in the Chorus.  That scrapbook contained all the early photos, programs, articles and reviews that are found in this collection.

Our first archivists, Ed Yadzinski and Raya Lee, did a wonderful job of scanning or photographing the contents of Minnie’s scrapbook, and a second scrapbook whose compiler is unknown.  Ed and Raya created an earlier archive website, and all of their findings are included in this site, along with new content.

Schola and BPC members Kathy Vitagliano and Scott Schaefer both kept collections of programs, articles and reviews from their long tenures in the organization, and those have provided a wealth of data from the 1970’s up to the present.

Most of the source material for this website can be found in the BPC library at Amherst Community Church. Those materials were meticulously indexed by Scott Schaefer and are organized by chorus season in in file cabinets. All of the reviews found in those files have been scanned and included in the website. Fortunately, the contents of the original scrapbooks that inspired this archive, which are now brittle and fragile, have all been scanned and preserved.
